i get to wake up to this face everyday...

every morning kennedy's cries from waking up turn to smiles and lately even laughing as soon as she sees mommy or daddy. sometimes i sing to her and she smiles more. i would expect her to start crying because the singing is so atrocious but she indulges me with her beautiful smile anyway!

our little girl is really starting to show some of her personality and she is just precious. we are loving every minute with her. sometimes while she is napping in the mornings i find that i miss her. she naps in either her room or in the swing in the family room from about 6-9am and then again from 10:30am-12pm. if i am missing her too much and just want to snuggle, i go in and make some loud noises hoping to wake her up. i do find that she is in a better mood if i don't do that and just let her sleep until she wakes up. but sometimes i just can't help myself! she is such a happy baby in the mornings. must get that from her daddy because i am definitely not a morning person.

some notes about kennedy: she has found her hand and likes sucking on it (click on the play button to launch video below). she almost always sneezes after she has eaten indicating that she is full. my grandpa did this and since he is no longer with us, i feel like it's a little piece of him in her. even though she is starting to like tummy time, she is more interested in sucking her fingers. she hasn't quite figured out how to get them into her mouth while lying on her back. she almost always starts to fall asleep during tummy time and then i whisk her off to bed. from the time she wakes up, including about 20-30 minutes of feeding, she can usually only stay awake for about an hour to an hour and a half before she needs to go back to sleep. at night after her 6-6:30pm feeding, she almost never takes a nap. we usually eat a quick dinner during this time and then take her on a walk with echo which seems to calm her down a little bit. we've decided the time between 6:30-8 is her "witching hour" because she usually cries for 20-30 minutes before we can console her. i even tried to put her down after the 6:30 feeding thinking that because she was crying and so tired during this time she was ready to go to bed that early. she woke at 2am so i found out she was not ready. around 8pm i change her diaper, get her swaddled up and either i nurse her or daddy gives her a bottle i've pumped. she only eats about 2-3 oz and then she goes to bed very easily. we just put her in the crib and give her the paci and within 10 minutes or so she goes to sleep without crying. she was sleeping until 5-5:30am pretty consistently but lately she's had a few nights where she wakes up at 3am. ken is a wonderful husband and always takes one of the early feedings on the weekend and unfortunately for him, his last 3 have been when she woke at 3am. :( we are so blessed by our little girl. i am continually amazed that God chose us to be her parents. we are so in love!
